| John M. Sklenar is founder and President of The Premier Companies, a group of companies specializing in taxation, estate and retirement transition planning.
Sklenar
is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Personal Financial Specialist
(PFS), and Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP) . Because of this
unique combination, they are able to offer a breadth of knowledge and
experience that most advisors don't have.
John
M. Sklenar received his B.S. with honors from Northwest Missouri State
University in Accounting and Business Management in 1974. John
received the Clifford Kensinger award, given to a top accounting
student. Since then, he has been working in the accounting and
consulting business, serving business, professional and senior clients transitioning into or in retirement.
Sklenar
entered the financial planning business when he realized that the
clients of his CPA firm were poorly served by financial planners.
Few clients ever received any planning…most planners want to
simply sell a product. Consequently, Sklenar saw that most people
end up with no plan, the wrong plan, the wrong investments and
necessary documents were not prepared. His passion was fueled by
the untimely death of his father, leaving his mother without the means
to cope. His firm developed a system to provide complete planning
services economically. Their motto is "Doing What Other Advisors Neglect To Do."™
John
is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
and the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has been
an active volunteer, serving on numerous boards, including
two appointments by the Governor of Iowa to the Iowa Accountancy
Examining Board, serving as chair of the Ethic Committee. He was
also selected as an Outstanding Young Man by the United States Jaycees
in 1977. He is a member of the National Ethics Bureau and the Better Business Bureau of Iowa.
John
lives in Carroll, Iowa with Virlee, his wife and partner in
business. They have a son, Nick who is employed by the Iowa
Division of Criminal Investigation. He and his wife, Jacky, have
two sons, Jackson and Nolan. John and Virlee also have a
daughter, Josie,
who is a hair stylist in Tampa, Florida and is married to Cody Ehlers, a semi-pro baseball player.
